DancingSoloBeachSunlight 400x270 Life on the Road I Hope You DANCEThis past Friday, I was in Ontario, California singing for the surprise birthday party of a wonderful Pastor. His family brought me in as a gift to him. (Me… a gift? Cool!) The event was held at the Ontario Convention Center. It was a private event and and we had such a great time.

I sang some songs that they had requested. Lo and behold, when I started singing a song I wrote some years ago with Kevin Bond called, “Love Is,” the Pastor and his wife started doing a slow DANCE!

That was the best part of the whole night!

Some people think Christians shouldn’t DANCE and believe it’s wrong. Hey, I THINK DANCING SHOULD BE MANDATORY! The Psalmist David danced until he lost his clothes! Now that’s what I call “working it!” LOL!

I also had the chance to spend some time with one of my best friends in the world when I was a teenager and in my early 20′s. She, her husband and her family were at the birthday party. What a great surprise to see them! About nine of us went to Applebee’s afterward to keep the party going. We talked and laughed into the morning hours and shut the place down.

Sunday, I went to sing at a great church in Atlanta and guess what? It was a celebration of the Pastor’s birthday too!!!

The Pastor turned 63 last Sunday. He has been the pastor of that church for 24 years. There was music and worship and DANCING before the Lord. Fantastic!

So for a weekend, I became a professional birthday singer! LOL! I’m also available for weddings, bar mitsvahs, rodeos, Las Vegas night clubs and yodeling too. JUST KIDDING!

Seriously, I turn down most invitations to sing for events other than concerts and speaking. These kind of events don’t normally allow me the platform that gives me the opportunity to do what I do best.

But I’ m so glad I did these two special birthday events. You know why? The celebration of life and love produces endorphins inside of you that gives you joy.

Many are praying for signs, wonders and miracles. Others are praying for revival. We’re praying for jobs and better jobs. We’re praying for better relationships. We’re praying for the peace of Jerusalem. We’re praying for the souls of mankind. Don’t stop praying for any of these things.

But also, don’t you ever stop praying for joy. For the joy of the Lord is your strength. And without strength, it’s kind of hard to feel like continuing on… especially if what you are praying for is not answered today.

We’ve all got some challenges ahead. We have decisions to make. We’ve got places to go and people to see. For me, it’s just gonna have to wait… for just a couple of minutes. Because as soon as I finish this letter, I’m going to find myself a little spot… and DANCE.

So take a minute today… in the office…. at home…. in the bathroom…. at your desk… with a partner or by yourself… AND DANCE!

You’re gonna love this video I picked for you. Click here now

Hey! Is that music I hear playing?  Gotta go… and DANCE!

You matter,

Alvin
